The event drew more than 400 participants, including leaders from central agencies, diplomatic representatives, scientists, experts, lecturers, students, technology corporations, startups, and domestic and international investors.

Semiconductor chip technology is identified as one of Vietnam’s 11 strategic technology sectors, focusing on key products including specialized chips, AI chips, and IoT chips.

This event shows Da Nang’s efforts to implement the guidelines and requirements for research, development, and mastery of core technologies in line with Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthrough development in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. It aims to position Da Nang as a new center for international finance, pioneering innovation, and core technology development in Vietnam and the region.

Da Nang is the first locality nationwide to dedicate a day specifically to the semiconductor sector, demonstrating its ambition and vision for development in this field.

Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, noted that, one year after the inaugural “Da Nang Semiconductor Microchip Day” (August 30, 2024), the city has made significant progress in four areas: policy, infrastructure, human resources, and investment attraction.

“We are entering a new stage of development, where breakthrough and creativity are key to overcoming limits, advancing, and realizing the aspiration for a prosperous and thriving nation. I believe that from today’s workshop, the intelligence, dedication, and initiatives of the participants will make an important contribution, not only for Da Nang but for Vietnam as a whole,” emphasized Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet.

At the first Da Nang Semiconductor Microchip Day, only eight design enterprises participated, forming the initial semiconductor ecosystem. After one year, the number has grown to 25 companies, covering diverse stages including packaging and testing. The presence of major domestic and international technology corporations confirms Da Nang’s appeal and position on Vietnam’s semiconductor map.

Speaking at the event, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper highlighted that Da Nang’s rapidly developing semiconductor industry and related sectors have attracted global attention due to its fast-growing economy, strategic location, increasingly skilled workforce, and visionary leadership. The presence of US semiconductor and high-tech companies in Da Nang is expected to continue supporting the city’s high-tech ambitions and serve as preferred partners.

The US government recognizes the importance of fostering strong semiconductor supply chains and resilient production networks. Through programs focused on STEM education, English language training, workforce development, and building partnerships between US universities and institutions in Vietnam, such as the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, and the University of Da Nang, the US is collaborating closely with Vietnam to achieve high-tech objectives.

Ambassador Knapper affirmed that, through economic cooperation and private-sector-led initiatives, his nation is working with Vietnam to further strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem, reinforcing relationships between US and Vietnamese companies and promoting mutual prosperity.

“Da Nang Semiconductor Microchip Day 2025” featured two specialized workshops and a technology exhibition with 20 domestic and international enterprises introducing the most advanced products and solutions, and a job fair offering over 100 positions, while directly connecting companies with hundreds of young engineers and students.
