The retail price of gas for cooking has increased by VND7,000-9,000 per bottle in southern provinces. Petrolimex gas agents said this is the record rise in the domestic market since the beginning of this year as most of the gas available has had to be imported.
In Can Tho city, the prices of many construction materials remain stable but high, lowering the purchase power, and high petrol prices have raised the cost of transport by 15 percent.
In Vinh Long province, rice prices are still high despite having dropped by VND3,000-4,000. Two local companies are continuing to sell rice from their reserves at VND10,000-13,000 per kg.
