Chu Lai launches direct shipping route to India

VOV.VN - Thilogi, a member of Truong Hai Group, on May 16 signed of a cooperation agreement with Regional Container Lines (RCL), officially launching a direct shipping route from Chu Lai International Port in Quang Nam province to India.

The same day, the port welcomed the Singapore-registered CHANA BHUM vessel, operated by Regional Container Lines (RCL), marking the launch of a fixed shipping route between Chu Lai and India. The vessel transported nearly 800 containers of import-export goods, including auto parts, garments, furniture, and agricultural products.

The Chu Lai - India route is said to operate twice a month, providing businesses with a direct, reliable channel to the Indian market and further connections to countries like China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.

This direct route significantly shortens transport times, reduces logistics costs, and improves the competitiveness of Vietnamese products by eliminating the need for transshipment through major ports in the north and south. It also opens up new trade opportunities, enhances regional connectivity, and strengthens Chu Lai International Port’s position on the global maritime map.

To support this growth, Chu Lai International Port has also commissioned a new tugboat - Chu Lai Port 02. The vessel is 26.68 meters long, 8.11 meters wide, and has a power capacity of 2,200 HP. It was designed according to national technical standards for steel-hulled seagoing vessels and is equipped with modern safety features and anti-pollution systems.

The addition of this tugboat ensures maritime safety for large vessels entering and leaving the port, while also enhancing the port’s operational efficiency and service quality.

Also on May 16, Thilogi announced the completion of the Ky Ha port dredging project in Quang Nam that now meets technical standards, enabling it to accommodate vessels of up to 30,000 DWT. The port was handed over to the Vietnam Maritime Administration for management and operation.
