Central Retail breaks ground on GO! shopping mall in An Giang
VOV.VN - Central Retail Vietnam broke ground on GO! Rach Gia shopping mall in Rach Gia ward, An Giang province, on October 27, marking the development of the group’s 47th shopping mall.
Covering more than 16,000 square metres, GO! Rach Gia is being developed as a multi-service retail complex. Planned facilities include a GO! hypermarket and ancillary supermarket areas spanning more than 5,000 square metres and offering over 40,000 essential products, as well as restaurants and dining outlets, entertainment and recreation facilities, convenience store chains, and fashion brands.
The project is scheduled for completion and opening in late 2027 to meet a broad range of shopping and leisure needs among local residents.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Phong, Standing Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee, stressed that the project marked an important step towards modernising the province’s commercial and distribution infrastructure.
An Giang is seeking to develop modern, integrated trade and services, expand its distribution network and improve the movement of goods to meet rising consumer demand, broaden markets and support economic growth, he said.
The provincial authorities also aim to improve the investment climate, streamline administrative procedures and facilitate projects that align with local development plans.
Phong highlighted Central Retail’s experience in modern retail and distribution, particularly its role in promoting and selling Vietnamese agricultural products through its retail network. He said the project could create practical opportunities for local businesses and producers to reach more consumers.
Meanwhile, Olivier Langlet, CEO of Central Retail Vietnam, said GO! Rach Gia would offer residents a combination of grocery shopping, dining and entertainment when it opens in late 2027.
He highlighted An Giang’s strong advantages in agricultural and aquatic products, regional specialties, and products certified under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme, which provide a foundation for Central Retail Vietnam to expand cooperation and bring the province’s quality products to a wider consumer market.
Central Retail will work with local businesses, cooperatives, and farmers to introduce more locally produced goods at GO! Rach Gia and gradually expand their distribution through the group’s nationwide retail network, he said.
Earlier, on March 27, 2026, Phu Cuong Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Central Retail Vietnam to develop the GO! Rach Gia shopping mall.
Once operational, the project is expected to contribute to socioeconomic development in An Giang and neighboring localities by creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs and opening up new growth opportunities for local businesses.
