According to a report by the Central Highland Steering Board, a series of hydro-electric power plants are being built along the Serepok, Se San and Dong Nai rivers.
Many other projects were put into operation, providing electricity to the national grid, including the Dray H’Linh plant in Dak Lak, Ya Ly and Se San 3 plants in Gia Lai.
The report said that six projects with a combined capacity of 750MW will be built near the Serepok river in Dak Lak. Construction has started on five of the projects.
The Central Highland provinces also encourage businesses to invest in hundreds of small and medium hydro-electric power plants. Dak Lak alone zoned off 100 sites for hydro-electric power plants, 29 of them are being under construction.
The Steering Board said apart from contributing electricity to the national grid, those projects have generated thousands of jobs, effectively improving people’s life.
