80 outstanding young rural businesspeople and 20 business models were honoured at a ceremony held at the Ly Thai To Statue on March 21 by the Hanoi Youth Union.

Among the honourees are Tran Quang Khai from Soc Son district who was recognized for his mushroom growing business with an annual income of VND1.5 billion, Phung Van Hiep from Tu Liem district for creating jobs for 90 people with a model to grow kumquats, and Nguyen Van Hau from Phu Xuyen district who is developing a tortoise farm with an annual income of VND600 million.

At the ceremony, Hanoi youth union secretary lit a torch to show the determination of the Hanoi youth to build a wealthy capital.

On the same day, they participated in a ceremony for reporting their achievements at the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and a forum entitled “Hanoi youths join hands to build new rural areas”.

The forum focused on practical issues like economic development, the enrichment of their homeland, global economic integration and the role of youth union members in environment protection.

Participants also discussed ways to preserve the country’s traditional cultural character and boost trade as well as measures to implement the agriculture-rural-farmer policy.
