Businesses meet consumption demands for Tet

VOV.VN - Trade centers have become crowded with people shopping and abundant Vietnamese products, covering a wide range of patterns, quality, and prices as Vietnam’s lunar New Year Festival (Tet) is drawing near.

Vietnamese products are displayed at eye-catching places in supermarkets.
At supermarkets such as Vinmart, Co.op Mart, Mega Market, and Big C, typical Tet products are displayed in eye-catching areas. Decorative items such as peach and apricot blossoms create a festive atmosphere.

Nguyen Tien Dat of Hanoi said, “Vietnamese products are diverse with nice models and reasonable prices. There are many sale promotion programs.”

The Bibica confectionary company supplies the market with 65 types of biscuits and candies - 3 tons worth. Phan Van Thien, Bibica’s Deputy General Director, said prices have not increased, but they now have more products for religious purposes.

“Bibica has typical Vietnamese devotional products such as candy in the shape of gold ingots, and Happiness, Wealth, and Longevity men who carry wishes of prosperity, sufficiency, peace, and success. This year is the Year of the Pig and many products have the image of a gold pig.” Thien said.

Central Group Vietnam’s Big C supermarket has gift baskets containing local specialties – Hai Binh roasted cashew nuts from Gia Lai province, Long Trieu coffee from Lam Dong province, Hung Thai green tea from Thai Nguyen province, and dried custard apples from Dong Thap province.

Le Thi Mai Linh, Vice President of Central Group Vietnam said “Vietnamese producers have improved the packaging, selling smaller quantities for the Tet demand. Customers are choosing Vietnamese products for their high quality and low prices, which are 8 to 12% lower than imported products.”

Supermarkets and businesses have launched promotional campaigns to increase sales of confectionary, beverages, household utensils, and decorative items.
