Businesses from Tatarstan and Hanoi forge long-term cooperation links

VOV.VN - Businesses from Hanoi and Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan discussed ways to boost long-term cooperation links during their meeting in Hanoi on March 21.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized the longstanding friendship between Vietnam and Russia, while highlighting that there is still significant potential to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

In 2024, bilateral trade turnover reached US$4.58 billion, an increase of 26% compared to 2023. Currently, Hanoi has established regular co-operative relations with Moscow and Saint Petersburg. It has so far attracted about US$153.7 million in investment from Russia, with 61 active projects and several new investments.

Quyen affirmed that the capital has always welcomed foreign investors, particularly Tatarstan enterprises who come to invest and conduct business in the city over the long-term.

He went on to express his belief that cultural and tourism ties between the two sides will continue to develop strongly moving forward.

Meanwhile, Tatarstan leader Rustam Minnikhanov affirmed that the republic is one of the most economically developed regions of Russia, with strengths in the production of Kamaz trucks, chemicals, civil and military aircraft, food processing, textiles, and furniture manufacturing. These sectors present significant opportunities for cooperation with Vietnamese businesses, especially those in Hanoi.

Tatarstan also aims to export petrochemical products, trucks, and expand tourism cooperation with Vietnam. He proposed launching a direct flight route between the two regions to facilitate long-term cooperation.

During the event, businesses from both sides exchanged information and explored cooperation opportunities in high-tech industries, processing industries, healthcare, trade, transportation, and tourism.

Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko reaffirmed that the Russian Embassy would continue to serve as a bridge to promote practical cooperation between Hanoi and Tatarstan, turning potential opportunities into concrete projects.
