Since the beginning of this year, the southern province of Binh Duong has attracted more than US$1 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), fulfilling its yearly target.
In May alone, the province licensed 19 new FDI projects worth US$134.9 million in total and permitted 10 projects to add an additional US$117.8 million.

Statistics released by the provincial People’s Committee show that with an average capital of US$6.6 million, the newly-licensed projects are much larger than the existing ones.

Vietnam licensed 130 new FDI projects worth almost US$7.5 billion in May, bringing the total number of newly-licensed projects in the first five months of the year to 324. It also allowed 132 projects to add a total amount of more than US$600 million.
