Ba Ria-Vung Tau hosts regional geoscience conference

The 46th annual Conference of the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) opened in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on October 19.

Participants from 14 member countries will focus on reviewing the achievements recorded since the previous session, discussing global issues such as climate change and global warming as well as challenges and opportunities to work out a strategy for the next few years and promoting information exchanges and human resources training.

Also, there will be a debate on how to develop mineral resources in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

The conference, co-organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, will last until October 22.
