Aviation sees double-digit growth, serves over 64 million passengers
VOV.VN - Vietnam's aviation sector recorded strong growth over the past nine months, transporting more than 64 million passengers, up nearly 11% year-on-year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
Cargo volume also rose nearly 19% to over 1 million tons compared with the same period last year.
International air transport led the growth, carrying around 15 million passengers, up over 13%, and approximately 946,000 tons of cargo, up nearly 23%. Domestic routes experienced a more than 7% rise in passenger traffic and more than 169,000 tons of cargo, a modest increase of 0.2%.
Vietnamese carriers transported nearly 44 million passengers in total, including 29 million domestic passengers and nearly 15 million international travelers, marking an overall rise of more than 8%.
A CAAV representative said the authority will support airlines in optimizing fleet use, increasing flight capacity to meet year-end travel demand, and preparing for the 2026 Lunar New Year. The agency will also coordinate airport take-off and landing slots, work with foreign aviation authorities to expand international routes, and promote research and market forecasting to support policy-making.
