Autumn Economic Forum 2026 explores new drivers of growth through 16 sessions
VOV.VN - The second day of the Autumn Economic Forum 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City on October 27 features 16 thematic sessions focusing on new growth drivers, shifts in global value chains and the role of technology in enhancing competitiveness.
According to organisers, the parallel sessions bring together representatives of government agencies, international organisations, experts, research institutes, universities and business leaders. Discussions are structured around three broad themes addressing issues that are directly shaping the development models of economies.
The first theme examines shifts in growth models and the role of megacities. A key session, Repositioning Vietnam and ASEAN in Global Value Chains, has been developed with contributions from the World Economic Forum (WEF), including speakers from the organisation.
The discussion aims to identify changes in international production networks and explore opportunities for Vietnam and ASEAN to participate more deeply in higher value-added industries and stages of production.
Other topics include environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations, the circular economy, human resources in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), and the application of technology in megacity governance.
The second theme centres on the institutional, financial and technological foundations needed to generate new sources of growth. Discussions on the International Financial Centre examine its potential to connect capital markets, attract long-term funding and develop financial services to support investment, production and innovation.
Sessions on digital economy policy, data safety, cybersecurity in the quantum era and emerging technologies also address the need to improve the regulatory environment, develop infrastructure and strengthen the workforce.
The third theme looks at international cooperation in science and technology and the development of emerging industries. Topics include green logistics, advanced manufacturing, agricultural technology, technology diplomacy and the role of young businesses, viewed in the context of transforming production models, boosting productivity and expanding markets.
A dedicated session on agricultural technology features participation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Vietnam. It introduces solutions to develop transparent, responsible and sustainable agrifood systems.
Alongside the 16 thematic sessions, the Rising Star Arena will host 30 technology demonstrations across four stages. The showcase will present solutions spanning AI, cybersecurity, blockchain, smart agriculture, clean energy, biomedicine, quantum technology and green finance.
