Australian businesses seek investment opportunities in Quang Tri
VOV.VN - Australian businesses are exploring investment opportunities in Quang Tri, central Vietnam, with a focus on high technology and sustainable infrastructure following a recent meeting between provincial leaders and a visiting delegation from Australia’s HunterNet Co-operative.
Le Duc Tien, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee, received the delegation to discuss potential strategic cooperation in these areas.
Tim Owen, Chair of the Hunter Defence Task Force and Defence Industry Advisor at HunterNet said the association brings together more than 180 enterprises in manufacturing, engineering and high technology in Australia, with a mission to support business growth, innovation and sustainable development through cooperation.
HunterNet helps its members access projects and participate in supply chains, particularly in sectors with high technical requirements such as defence, energy and advanced manufacturing.
Based on its research, the association said Quang Tri has potential in deep-water seaports, renewable energy and materials serving the semiconductor industry. It expressed a desire to promote cooperation in these priority areas in line with its international strengths.
HunterNet also proposed plans to conduct field surveys in clean energy and explore cooperation in developing seaport systems to improve the province’s logistics gateway capacity.
The association is particularly interested in investment opportunities in high-tech sectors such as semiconductor materials production and aircraft component manufacturing and maintenance. These industries require advanced technical capacity and close coordination between authorities and businesses from the pre-feasibility stage.
At the meeting, Le Duc Tien welcomed the delegation’s interest in Quang Tri, adding that
following administrative restructuring, the province has a more synchronised transport infrastructure system and holds a strategic position along the East-West and North-South economic corridors.
Quang Tri has three international border gates, La Lay, Lao Bao and Cha Lo, connected to My Thuy, Cua Viet and Hon La seaports, forming an integrated transport network linking border areas with the sea.
This connectivity helps ensure efficient movement of goods between countries in the region and access to international markets.
In addition, Quang Tri boasts vast potential for clean energy development, particularly wind and solar power. Science and technology, along with semiconductor materials, have also been identified as long-term breakthrough sectors.
Le Duc Tien expressed hope that HunterNet would cooperate in renewable energy, including wind and solar power; clean energy development; green hydrogen and methanol production; semiconductor materials; and links between Quang Tri’s seaport system and ports in Australia.
“The Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee will direct relevant departments to coordinate closely, provide detailed information and offer maximum support for investors to conduct surveys and turn cooperation ideas into concrete projects,” Tien said.
