Asian-American businesses' bridging role in Vietnam-US trade cooperation

VOV.VN - The Asian-American business community can serve as an important bridge, helping Vietnamese goods access distribution networks, expand customer bases, and integrate more deeply into supply chains in the US market.

Promoting this network is expected to open up additional trade and investment opportunities between the two countries as Vietnamese enterprises adapt to changes in the international trade environment.

Speaking at the Asian American Chamber of Commerce's (AACC) annual business networking event in Virginia on October 22, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung highly praised the organization's critical role in opening doors for Vietnamese goods and enterprises to reach US distributors, retail networks, and trade partners.

According to the Ambassador, amid the rapid development of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the AACC has consistently proven to be a reliable partner.

Through its extensive and robust network, the AACC has helped Vietnamese enterprises enhance their understanding of the US market and integrate more effectively. Furthermore, the organization has actively spoken up to advocate for and promote Vietnam's immense potential, directly introducing and affirming Vietnam's strengths to the US business community.

Elaborating on the potential of this network, Do Ngoc Hung, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in the US, noted that the Asian-American business community holds distinct advantages in market understanding, business culture, and relationship networks in both the US and Asia.

Operating across import, distribution, logistics, finance, technology, and investment, many businesses within this community can assist Vietnamese enterprises in finding partners and step-by-step expanding operations in the US.

Hung remarked that the AACC conference serves as a practical forum to strengthen connections between the Asian-American business community in the US and international partners, including Vietnam. For Vietnamese enterprises, this is an opportunity to access businesses operating across trade, investment, technology, finance, and services.

Through networking activities at the conference, Vietnamese businesses can seek import partners and distributors, expand their consumption systems in the US, and access capital, technology, and management expertise from US firms.

Economic cooperation between the two countries is gradually shifting from traditional goods trade toward sectors with higher technological content and value-added, laying a foundation for substantive and sustainable bilateral economic ties, Hung added.

Alongside these advantages, he pointed out that the greatest challenge currently facing Vietnamese enterprises is the volatility and unpredictability of the international trade policy environment, particularly US tariff policy adjustments and import management measures. These changes can directly impact costs, competitiveness, production plans, and investment decisions.

"In addition to tariffs, Vietnamese enterprises must increasingly meet requirements regarding the origin of goods, trade defense, supply chain transparency, technical standards, and compliance with US market regulations," Hung shared. "In this context, it is crucial for businesses to proactively update policies, diversify markets and partners, enhance management capacity, and focus on controlling raw material origins and supply chain transparency."

He added that regarding regulatory bodies, Vietnam and the US continue to maintain exchanges and dialogues to resolove remaining issues and promote balanced, stable, and mutually beneficial trade relations.

The 17th Annual Asian American Business Conference, organized by the AACC, gathered entrepreneurs, business leaders, government representatives, and community organizations to promote innovation, business networking, and expanded cooperation opportunities. The event took place alongside a Gala honoring individuals and organizations with outstanding contributions to business, leadership, and community development.

At the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung was presented with the Excellence in Diplomacy Award by the AACC. His spouse, Tran Thị Bich Van, received the Cultural Envoy Award in recognition of her contributions to cultural exchange activities and promoting Vietnam's image, people, culture, and traditional values to the US business community and public.
