The fair has been designed to promote information technology application as a way of developing an online platform to boost trade promotion in agriculture, and to help foreign firms gain greater insights into the country’s agro-forestry-fishery sector.

On display across 50 online booths were a range of typical agricultural specialties such as tea, coffee, mint blossom honey, cordyceps, seafood, fruit, rice, and numerous other items from 20 provinces and cities from across the country.

All of the agro-forestry-fishery products have been certified by VietGap, Viet Organic, and HACCP, as well as receiving food safety certifications from the  Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea.

“One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) products, along with machinery and equipment for agricultural production, are also being introduced at AgroViet 2021.

Dao Van Ho, director of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center, said apart from enhancing connectivity for the value chain of local agricultural products, the event also serves to promote the consumption of agro-forestry-fishery products through the campaign “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods”.

AgroViet online 2021 has been held via an online platform by using SmartROOM technology, making it easier for customers to gain updated information about businesses via booths, and for local firms to offer and sell their agricultural products, Ho noted.

A webinar will also be held during the fair to strengthen consumption of agricultural specialties and devise solutions to difficulties faced by localities in consuming farm produce.

A conference is slated for December 10 to improve trade promotion skills for businesses operating in the agricultural field.
