A clear and stable legal framework- the key to green growth

VOV.VN - Economic experts emphasize that achieving Vietnam’s net-zero emissions target by 2050 requires a clear and stable legal framework for green growth and the green transition.

The global landscape is evolving rapidly, with complex and unpredictable shifts in geopolitics, economics, trade, and competition among major powers. At the same time, the rise of the green economy, circular economy, and digital transformation presents both challenges and opportunities for businesses.

As a result, businesses and must constantly innovate to seize opportunities, overcome challenges, and achieve sustainable growth.

Kim Le Huy, General Director of DKSH Vietnam, highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into daily operations.

“In the past, businesses relied on paper-based processes for signing documents. Now, electronic signatures and digital transformation are helping reduce waste. Sustainability is no longer just an investment choice. It’s a necessity. By 2030, companies that fail to meet Vietnam’s net-zero standards may struggle to survive,” he stated.

Clearly, the business community plays a pivotal role in Vietnam’s green transition, he stressed.

Nguyen Quang Vinh, vice president of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and chairman of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), stressed that a transparent and stable regulatory framework is essential for driving green growth.

Many businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), still face challenges in accessing resources for their green transition. To resolve this, the government needs to establish clearer green criteria and provide targeted support.

“We urge the government to define what qualifies as a ‘green business’ and introduce effective incentives to accelerate the transition. Tax benefits, financial aid, and land-use policies should be considered, particularly for startups embracing the circular economy,” Nguyen Quang Vinh suggested.
