13 Vietnamese banks among Brand Finance Journal Banking 500 2026
VOV.VN - Thirteen Vietnamese banks have been listed among the world’s 500 most valuable banking brands in 2026, according to the latest Banking 500 report released by Brand Finance, highlighting the growing strength and global presence of Vietnam’s banking sector.
The 13 honoured banks are Vietcombank, VietinBank, MB Bank, BIDV, Techcombank, Agribank, VPBank, ACB, HDBank, Sacombank, VIB, TPBank and SHB.
Among them, Vietcombank remains the country’s most valuable banking brand, placing 134th globally despite dropping seven places compared with 2025. VietinBank ranks second among Vietnamese banks, climbing 15 places to 148th globally.
MB Bank also recorded notable improvement, rising 12 places to 156th and surpassing BIDV in this year’s ranking. Meanwhile, BIDV is ranked 170th globally, Techcombank stands at 175th and Agribank is ranked 221st.
VPBank recorded the most significant progress among Vietnamese banks this year, jumping 33 places from 260th in 2025 to 227th in 2026. HDBank also saw a notable improvement, rising 25 places to 326th globally.
Other Vietnamese banks continue to maintain their presence in the global ranking, with ACB ranked 283rd, Sacombank 336th, VIB 428th, TPBank 459th and SHB 483rd.
Conversely, some banks saw a drop in global ranking in comparison to the previous year including BIDV, 170th, Techcombank, 175th, and Agribank, 221st.
Large-scale Chinese banks remain their leading positions in global rankings. In 2026, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China retains its leading position on the list, with an estimated brand value of US$90.9 billion.
The list also sees the return of HSBC to the Top 10 most valuable global banking brands, marking the first time that the bank has come back to the top group since 2019.
According to Brand Finance, brand valuation enables financial institutions to measure brand strength and quantify the financial value of their brands. This serves as an important foundation for banks to develop long-term strategies, strengthen competitiveness and enhance corporate value.
Headquartered in London, Brand Finance operates in more than 25 countries and conducts over 6,000 brand valuations each year. The organisation also publishes more than 100 brand ranking reports annually across various industries and markets.
This organization also runs the Global Brand Equity Monitor project, surveying over 175,000 participants in 41 countries to assess more than 6,000 global brands.
