Dutch Lady Vietnam on October 8 granted 200 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to unprivileged pupils in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue .

The scholarships aim to encourage students’ academic performance during the 2008-09 school year.

Since its establishment in 2002, the Den Dom Dom (fire-fly) fund has provided more than 10,000 scholarships for poor primary and secondary school pupils.

Since 2006, the fund has financed the construction of a number of schools in disadvantaged localities, including a VND3.1 billion primary school in Thua Thien-Hue province.

On this occasion, Nokia Vietnam, in conjunction with Thua Thien-Hue’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, handed over 50 gifts worth VND220,000 each to disadvantaged students in Nam Dong and Quang Dien districts to help them buy warm clothes and learning aids.
