State President meets voters in HCM City

(VOV) - State President Truong Tan Sang, deputy of the 13th National Assembly (NA), met with voters in HCM City’s District 1 on October 17.

Representatives from the City’s NA delegation briefed local voters on the delegation’s activities as well as the contents and agenda of the fourth NA session that is scheduled to take place from October 22-November 24 in Hanoi.

The voters applauded the results of the 11th Party Central Committee’s (PCC) sixth plenum, believing they will significantly contribute to Party building and rectification.

They underlined the need to formalise the sixth plenum’s resolution in NA operations as a way of enhancing its supervisory role over issues related to State apparatus, the budget for people credited with revolutionary service, education and training, land management, corruption, and wastefulness.

Regarding voter concern over corruption, President Sang said anti-corruption is an important issue that needs to be tackled soon as it adversely affects the country’s socio-economic development.

Apart from establishing the PCC’s Internal Affairs Commission as an anti-corruption agency, the NA will also consider revising the Anti-Corruption Law and strengthening the capacity of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption,

Mr Sang called on every voter to embrace combating unnecessary bureaucracy, corruption, and wastefulness.

President Sang added the delegation will report voter opinions to the city’s relevant agencies and the upcoming NA session. Matters discussed include the current socio-economic situation and proposed amendments and supplements to the 1992 Constitution.
