Stance on sovereignty over sea and islands reaffirmed

(VOV) - The Vietnamese Party and State affirm the consistent standpoint of safeguarding independence and national territorial sovereignty, and settling disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law.

President Truong Tan Sang made the remarks during his meeting with Ho Chi Minh City’s district 1 on April 26.

Answering media questions about sea and island sovereignty, President Sang said that Vietnam’s stance on national territorial sovereignty is praised by ASEAN and global countries at bilateral and multilateral forums.

Regarding off-shore fishing activities, Sang stressed that the Party and State always create all possible favourable conditions for fishermen.

Concerning voters’ opinions on strengthening personnel management and policy supervision, Sang said a regulation on social feedback will be issued in the near future to increase the efficiency of policy drafting and implementation.

Voters emphasised that at the upcoming session, the National Assembly should carry out well its role of supervising key national issues, and analyse the efficiency of public investment, and financial system and restructuring of State-owned enterprises (SoEs) to improve public confidence.
