SBV Governor queried about monetary policy, bank restructuring

(VOV) - The Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment will be grilled over issues related to their sector at the 31st session of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly (NA) in Hanoi on September 29.

The selection of the two cabinet members to answer NA deputies’ questions is based on opinions on socio-economic development at the seventh NA session and recommendations from voters nationwide.

SBV Governor Nguyen Van Binh will respond to questions about the implementation of the monetary policy, the restructuring of the commercial banking system and settlement of bad debts aiming to stabilize the macro-economy. He will also review the banking sector’s efforts to curb inflation, provide credit capital for the national economy and ensure economic growth for the 2014-2015 period.

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Nguyen Minh Quang will answer questions about State management responsibility for the exploitation of natural resources, minerals associated with environmental protection, the progress of land planning projects, granting of land use rights certificate, wastage of land use and the real situation of agricultural land use.

Additionally, handling pending complaints and denunciations with regard to land use and management will be touched upon at this question time.

Many other cabinet members including the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Planning and Investment and the Government General Inspector will join the Q&A session to further clarify these aforesaid issues.
