President Sang pays pre-Tet visit to Long An, Dong Thap
VOV.VN - President Truong Tan Sang urged local authorities and people to make full use of its advantages in location, industrial manufacturing, trade and service to become a rich province during his pre-Tet visit to Long An province on February 6.
He said the Vietnamese economy will enter a more fierce competition when new free trade pacts coming into force.
“Vietnam has improved its image in the world thanks to successes in renovation. There are more international friends wishing to help Vietnam develop and we should make full use of these advantages,” the State leader said.
Long Anh’s GDP increased 11.6% in 2015, higher than the target of 11.5 % while GPD per capita reached VND50.4 million ( US$2,261.5) per person per year, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Phan Van Ranh told Sang.
In his speech, President Sang applauded the province’s achievements, adding that the locality needs to keep up its growth momentum for the years to come.
It should also learn from the success stories of neighbouring provinces, notably Dong Nai and Binh Duong, in their process of industrialisation and modernisation, he added.
The same day, the State leader also paid a Tet visit to the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.
He praised the locality for effectively implementing the national programme on building new-style rural areas, saying agriculture makes up a large proportion of the local economy, therefore restructuring the sector is essential in the new situation.
Sang also commended the successful organization of the local Congress which contributed to the fruitful 12th National Party Congress.
