President meets HCM City voters

VOV.VN -  On August 1, President Tran Dai Quang met with voters in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City to brief them on the results of the first session of the 14th National Assembly. 

The voters praised the success of the NA meeting and proposed that NA deputies should focus on anti-corruption, waste prevention, public debt, food safety, water pollution, and the defense of national sovereignty over the sea and islands. 

The State leader said the Vietnamese government needs to focus on settling the public debt in the near future. In regards to the fight against corruption and waste.

"It is imperative to mobilize the combined strength of the whole political system and the public in the fight against corruption and waste. We need to strengthen communications and education activities to raise the public and sectors’ awareness in fighting corruption. 

Sang also informed the local voters on the regional and world situation.

"In the context of regional and global complicated developments, the country proactively and resolutely defend its independence, sea and island sovereignty, and territorial integrity as well as ensuring peace and stability for national development," he said.

After the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague issued its final ruling for the Philippines’ lawsuit against China on disputes in the East Sea on July 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam had prompt reaction, and Vietnam’s stance on the East Sea received international support, he added.

Many countries and international organisations have called on the parties concerned to place importance on navigation and aviation safety and security and respecting the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) toward reaching a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) as soon as possible.

The same day, President Quang and the NA deputy delegation of HCM City met with voters in District 3.
