PM urges better security to serve socio-economic development
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Public Security on June 28 reviewed its performance during the first half of the year at a conference in Ho Chi Minh City.
In his speech, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that from now until the end of the year the people’s police force should continue to focus on national security and social order to serve socio-economic development.
The cabinet leader said police forces should make contingency plans and ensure security in strategic areas such as the northwestern, the central highlands, and the southwestern regions.
He also called for greater efforts in building up the Party in the police force.
Public Security Minister, General To Lam said in the first half of this year, the People’s Public Security force proposed strategic policies as well as specific solutions to safeguard national security and social safety and order.
The force effectively and timely foiled all hostile schemes, while actively resolving emerging social security problems and ensuring absolute safety for the country’s major political events, including the 12th Party Congress and the general election in May, Lam added.
The prevention and fight against criminals showed positive signs, with reduced number of criminal cases and traffic accidents, he noted.
