PM Dung urges high-ranking military staff training

(VOV) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung attended the opening ceremony of the 2014-2015 school year at the Defence Academy in Hanoi on September 16.

In his statement, PM Dung held that Vietnam had overcome a number of challenges in recent years, including the global economic crisis, natural disasters, epidemics and violations of its sovereignty in the East Sea.

In response to these challenges, the country has made progress in socio-economic development, consolidated defence and security efforts, and reinforced external relations, Dung noted, adding that the people’s armed forces, including the academy, have contributed substantially to these achievements.

"National defense is vitally important to Vietnam and that the Academy was tasked with training high-ranking military officials and researching strategic issues concerning national defense and military" he said.

He asked the Academy to boost scientific research and improve forecasts of subversive schemes in order to work out timely solutions under any circumstances.

The Prime Minister said he hoped the Academy will become a leading center for education, training and military science development at national, regional and international level.
