Party leader pays New Year visit to Thach That
(VOV) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited and extended New Year wishes to local residents in Hanoi’s outlying Thach That district on February 14, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.
Trong expressed his delight at the district’s rapid industrialization and urbanization. Its 2012 GDP growth rate hit 9 percent. The district’s economic structure has also shifted towards more lucrative fields, with industry and construction expanding to 66.8 percent; trade, services, and tourism to 18.6 percent; and agro-forestry-fishery accounting for 14.6 percent.
He praised residents and district authorities for actively implementing the Party‘s Resolutions, particularly those detailing modern rural area construction and Party building.
According to Trong, the district’s socio-economic achievements have helped inflation minimization, macroeconomic stability, and social welfare.
The Party Chief asked district authorities and residents to deepen solidarity and develop craft villages, industry, and services capable of accelerating industrialisation and modernisation. This, combined with environmental consciousness, will help build a prosperous, modern, and civilised Hanoi.
Trong also participated in a tree planting ceremony and visited welfare beneficiary families living in the locality.
