NA leader pays after Tet visits to banks, customs sector

In her speech, the NA leader praised HDBank’s impressive contributions to the national economy in 2018 with a decade-high GDP growth of 7.08%. She said she is greatly impressed with HDBank and Vietjet’s reports on its operations.

In 2018, the two groups’ profit reached close to VND 10,000 billion, contributing more than VND 7,500 billion to the State budget.

In her remarks, CEO of budget carrier Vietjet Air Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said Vietjet now has 70 aircraft and runs more than 100 air routes, two thirds of which are international ones. In 2018 alone, Vietjet transported more than 23 million passengers, the highest number recorded among Vietnamese airlines and achieved the safety and exploitation index of the best airline groups in the Asia- Pacific region.

Vietjet and HDBank have jointly contributed to spurring the healthy growth and international integration of Vietnam’s capital and securities market, she added.

On the occasion, the top Vietnamese legislator extended her best wishes to HDBank and Vietjet staff and thanked foreign employees for their contributions to boosting the Vietnamese economy’s development.

She also appreciated HDBank and Vietjet's social and charitable activities and their contributions to the State budget and the country’s economic development over the past years, noting that this is an expression of corporate responsibility for the community in line with the traditional culture of Vietnam as well as the stance of Party and State leaders on building the economy in the spirit of responsibility sharing.

The same day, the NA Chairwoman also paid visits to Vietcombank and General Department of Vietnam Customs.

She applauded the good performance of Vietcombank in 2018 and wished the bank greater success in the New Year.

Last year, the bank’s pre-tax profit reached a record of nearly VND18.4 trillion VND, the highest in the banking system in the country and the ratio of Vietcombank’s bad debt also fell to 0.97%.

During the visit to the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC), Ngan acknowledged the customs sector’s efforts in carrying out the national single window mechanism and combating smuggling and trade frauds.

She urged the sector to continue promoting ASEAN Single Window (ASW), National Single Window (NSW) mechanisms alongside trade facilitation, and performing well other tasks in the time ahead.
