NA elects key positions, adopts cabinet structure

VOV.VN -  On July 27, deputies to the 14th National Assembly elected the Vice President, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, and Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuracy in closed voting. 

With 97.57% of the approval votes, Ms Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh was elected Vice President. Mr Nguyen Hoa Binh was elected Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court with 96.36% of the votes and Mr Le Minh Tri became Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuracy with 94.33%.

On the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented a report on the government’s organizational structure. 

The NA’s Law Committee approved the report, under which the government will be comprised of 27 members including the Prime Minister, 5 Deputy Prime Ministers and 21 Ministers. 

One Deputy Prime Minister will also be the Foreign Minister. The deputies also approved resolutions on the National Assembly’s Oversight Program for 2017, and the government organizational structures.

The cabinet leader submitted the NA for approval a proposal on appointing Truong Hoa Binh, Vuong Dinh Hue, Vu Duc Dam, Trinh Dinh Dung, and Pham Binh Minh as Deputy Prime Ministers.  

Earlier, NA deputies also approved a resolution on the NA’s supervision programme in 2017.

Under the resolution, in its third plenum, the legislature will discuss an additional Government report on the results of the socio-economic plan and State budget in 2016, and outline a plan for early 2017, together with a report on the State budget balance for 2015 as well as reports from relevant agencies.

They are set to hold question and answer sessions, and dilate on law enforcement in food safety in the 2011-2016 period.

In the fourth plenum, they will give opinions on the Government’s report on the planned implementation of the socio-economic plan and State budget in 2017, and the performance of ministries and agencies in various fields. During the meeting, the deputies will also discuss the execution of laws in State administrative reform in the 2011-2016 period.

On July 28, the law-makers will approve the PM’s proposal to designate Deputy PMs, ministers and other Cabinet members through secret voting.
