NA adopts list of 48 senior officials for vote of confidence

Under Article 18 of the Law on Supervisory Activities of the NA and People’s Councils 2015, 48 out of 50 officials elected or approved by the National Assembly will cast votes of confidence, including the President, the Vice President, the NA Chairperson, NA Vice Chairpersons, members of the NA Standing Committee, heads of the NA Ethnic Council and NA Committees, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and heads of ministerial-level agencies, the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, the head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, and the State Auditor General.

However, newly-elected President Nguyen Phu Trong and Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, who were voted in this session, are excluded from the vote.

The first vote of confidence in 2013 and the second in 2014 proved effective in raising officials’ sense of responsibility and performance.

This year, the officials have to present a self-assessment of their political ideology, morality, lifestyle, and success in downsizing personnel in their agency and conduct their vote of confidence with a high sense of responsibility, democracy, objectivity, and absence of bias.
