Government leader calls for greater efforts to promote sustainable growth

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked all sectors to ensure macroeconomic stability and curb inflation towards promoting sustainable and comprehensive economic growth at a regular monthly government meeting in Hanoi on March 1.

The cabinet leader underlined the need to focus on growth promotion and asked ministries and sectors to seek methods and specific actions to overcome the shortcomings of the market economy.
He also pointed out difficulties, including the slow disbursement of public investment capital and increased trade deficit, saying that business development and economic growth are yet to meet the set targets.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) was asked to work hand in hand with localities to boost agricultural, forestry and fishery production.

PM Phuc agreed upon a number of measures proposed by ministries and sectors to directly deal with outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) and foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) so as to prevent widespread transmission.

He also directed the MARD to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to buy rice for temporary storage in order to ensure good prices for farmers.

The government leader requested the Government Inspectorate to supervise and accelerate the implementation of inspections related to the Vietnam Feature Film Studio, Quy Nhon port, Thai Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel JSC, and Thu Thiem urban area.

He asked the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) to work out measures to expand credit and reduce interest rates for priority fields towards keeping the momentum for growth.

Meanwhile, he also urged the Ministry of Investment and Planning to capitalize on opportunities brought by the hosting of the second DPRK-USA Summit to devise specific plans for attracting foreign investment attraction, especially from multinational hi-tech corporations.
