Early elections in border, island areas

Constituents in border and island areas have cast their ballots for deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels in the 2016-2021 tenure.

The early elections took place in a joyful atmosphere and in accordance with law.

Nearly 1,800 voters from Van Canh and Vinh Thanh districts in the central province of Binh Dinh participated in the election on May 21, one day earlier than the official date.

The same day, the elections were held at a number of border stations in the Central Highland province of Dak Nong and Dak Lak, ensuring absolute safety.

Local voters expressed their wish that the newly-elected deputies will promote their role to develop the economy and stabilise the lives of ethnic people and soldiers in remote areas.

Meanwhile, more than 3,300 voters from Dak Glei, Ngoc Hoi and Sa Thay border districts of Central Highland Kon Tum province conducted early elections on the day.

Joining the national significant event, 1,048 voters from Bach Long Vy island district in the northern port city of Hai Phong came to the polling stations to vote for competent and virtuous deputies.

Voters inhabiting Hon Chuoi and Hon Khoai islands in the southernmost province of Ca Mau also elected new deputies.

About 17 nautical from the mainland to the southwest, Hon Chuoi Island is home to 53 households with 108 voters who hope to receive investment, particularly in transport infrastructure, electricity and water, to build the island into an island commune as planned.
