Citizens practice their rights and obligations

VOV.VN - On May 22, More than 69 million eligible Vietnamese voters went to the polls to choose deputies to the 14th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2016-2021 term.

Casting their ballots to choose representatives to lead their country or their locality is a way to demonstrate their trust and responsibility towards the nation.

It is the people’s fundamental right to develop a state of the people, for the people, and by the people.

Early in the morning, many senior leaders went to the polls to choose talented and virtuous candidates who are believed to make greater contributions to building a strong and wealthy nation.

After casting his ballot, the Party chief told the media, “I think all voters including me want candidates for the National Assembly and People’s Councils will wholeheartedly serve the country and the people and fully implement duties and responsibilities stipulated by the Constitution and law to take part in national governance. I hope that every elected candidate shares the same thoughts like us. The responsibilities of the National Assembly and People’s Councils are to carry out well the functions of building law, supervising and deciding major issues of the nation. I believe that each elected candidate is fully aware of their role and responsibility in fine-tuning our political system, including the National Assembly and the People’s Councils”.

The State leader stressed the importance of the election, which helps build and consolidate the Vietnamese socialist state governed by law, by the people and for the people, meeting the need of national industrialization, modernization and international integration.

“I believe that the voters will uphold their sense of responsibility and right to mastery to wisely choose the best candidates for the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils, who will work with the Party and the State to lead the nation to successfully implement the resolution of the 12th National Party Congress and realise the goal of rich people, strong country, equitable, democratic and civilized society," Quang said.

He said this is the country’s most important political event when citizens exercise their right an duty, expressing his wish that the election will contribute to fine-tuning the State apparatus in order to successfully actualise the Resolution of the 12 th National Party Congress from the central to grassroots levels.

This year’s election is held after the issuance of the 2013 Constitution, which demonstrates that the people are the masters of the country, and human rights are accompanied with citizens’ rights and obligations.

By voting Vietnamese people citizens exercised their democratic right and fulfilled their political responsibility to the nation.

The election of deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils represents the people’s will, aspirations, and right to mastery in building up the state and representative agencies at all levels.
