Bill on organization of local administrations discussed

(VOV) -National Assembly deputies discussed the draft law on organization of local administrations on Tuesday at the NA Standing Committee’s 34th session.

Based on deputies’ recommendations and the experiences of other countries, two proposals for organizing local administrations were put forth.

Some deputies agreed with the first solution under which people’s committees and people’s councils will be set up in rural areas at provincial, district, and communal levels.

In urban areas, people’s committees and people’s councils will be limited to central cities and provincial capitals.

Discussions concentrated on the scope of adjustments, models of local administrations, power decentralization between central and local agencies and between local administrations.

Deputies also commented on the Law on the Organization of the Government and the Law on Labor Safety and Hygiene.

On January 21, they will give opinions on preparations for the upcoming 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132), which is scheduled for March in Hanoi and adjustments to tenure offices of Vietnamese ambassadors.
