Vietnamese, Malaysian navies bolster ties

Vietnam and Malaysia have agreed to bolster naval cooperation through increasing consultations and boosting affiliations in sea patrols, delegation exchanges and personnel training, Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) reported.

Vietnamese, Malaysian navies met in northern Hai Phong city on August 8
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Rear Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy and Admiral Tan Sri Dato Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Hj Ahmad Badaruddin , Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy in northern Hai Phong city on August 8.

At the event, the Vietnamese Rear Admiral said the two countries’ navies should strengthen solidarity while maintaining peace in the East Sea on the basis of respecting international law and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.

The Malaysian Admiral said he will instruct authorised bodies to prepare for cooperation with the Vietnamese Navy, particularly in establishing a communication channel and joint sea patrols.
