Vietnamese leaders honoured with Lao orders

(VOV) - Laos’ noble orders have been bestowed on senior Vietnamese leaders who have made outstanding contributions to strengthening the special relationship between the two countries.

At a ceremony in Hanoi on December 26, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone presented President Truong Tan Sang and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung the National Golden Orders.

On this occasion, first-class Freedom (Issara) Orders were also given to Politburo members of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) including Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, Head of the CPVCC’s Inspection Commission Ngo Van Du and Head of the CPVCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Dinh The Huynh, NA Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Head of the CPVCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Ha Thi Khiet, Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh and Head of the Politics General Department of the Vietnam People’s Army Ngo Xuan Lich.

President Sayasone said these are the noble rewards of the Lao Party and State to honour the positive contributions of the former and incumbent Vietnamese leaders to fostering the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries over the years.

He affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people are set to preserve and promote the special relationship between the two countries in any circumstances.

President Sang expressed his sincere thanks and affirmed that the ties of traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos is an invaluable asset of both nations and will continue to grow and flourish in the future.

Earlier, the visiting Lao president received representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and the Liaison Committee of former Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and military specialists in Laos.
