Vietnam, RoK increase defence cooperation
(VOV) - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, received Director of the Defence Management Reform Agency under the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defence, Rear Admiral Sur Kyong Jo, in Hanoi on October 29.
Lt. General Tuan said the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) this year represents a significant landmark in their bilateral relations. It gives the two sides a chance to further strengthen friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding and trust, in the spirit of strategic partnership and in line with the two peoples’ expectations, as well as for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
Since the two countries established national defence attaché relations (the RoK in 1992 and Vietnam in 1999), the friendship and cooperation between the two defence ministries have made great strides.
The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence praised the positive results of bilateral cooperation over the years through exchanging visits and training personnel, as well as deputy ministerial level strategic defence dialogues, Tuan said.
Admiral Sur Kyong Jo briefed General Tuan on the results of working with the Head of the Medical Department under the Defence Ministry, Major General Vu Quoc Binh, saying that he hopes both sides will expand their cooperation and exchanges in the near future.
