Vietnam aspires increased cooperation with Cambodia

(VOV) -Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung expressed his nation's wish to deepen cooperation with Cambodia at a reception for President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum in Hanoi on December 16.

He urged both countries to boost cooperation in economics, trade, investment, and tourism and said he hopes Cambodia will support Vietnamese businesses to expand their operations and investments in Cambodia.

The cabinet leader suggested both countries should work closely together in border delineation and marker planting to build a joint border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation, and development.

He asked relevant Cambodian agencies to settle the issue of legal status for Vietnamese people in Cambodia.

The Cambodian official said the Cambodian Senate supports the joint efforts by both governments to promote bilateral comprehensive cooperation and will work hand in hand with Vietnam on border demarcation and marker planting.

Receiving the Cambodian leader the same day, President Truong Tan Sang appreciated talks between Saychhum and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, saying he hopes parliamentary cooperation between the two countries will thrive in the future. President Sang also said he hopes Cambodia’s general election will be a success.

Saychhum said recent activities by some individuals of the opposition Party in Cambodia violated Cambodia’s law and the ruling Party and the opposition party in Cambodia are discussing ways to increase trust and to prepare for elections in 2017 toward a general election in 2018.
