Vietnam and Myanmar military leaders meet in Hanoi

VOV.VN - The combined chiefs of staff from Vietnam and Myanmar met on March 6 in Hanoi to discuss long-term strategic challenges the respective armed forces can expect to face in the future.

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and senior military leaders of Myanmar were greeted by a guard of honour from Vietnam led by Minister of Defence Ngo Xuan Lich to mark the beginning of the four day talks.

Topics discussed included how to continue the successful collaboration between the respective armed forces in military and language training for officers, management of illegal immigration and human trafficking.

The bilateral military relationship between the two countries is based on a long, shared history which has seen both forces routinely involved in training operations together, more prominently over the last decade. This meeting reinforces the close alliance between both armed forces.

At the talks the leaders said they shared a remarkably close relationship – not just as nations but as militaries. It is one founded on history, values and genuine friendship between the two sides.
