State and NA leaders welcome Uruguayan Vice President
(VOV) - State President Truong Tan Sang and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on November 6 received the visiting Uruguayan Vice President, Danilo Astori, who is also President of the General Assembly and the Chamber of Senators.
At the reception for Vice President Danilo Astori, Sang said Uruguay should create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in the country as well as in the Latin American market.
Vietnam is willing to serve as a bridge for Uruguay goods enter the ASEAN market.
Apart from promoting political ties, the two nations should soon implement the agreement signed, paving the way for stronger trade and economic cooperation, especially in agriculture, oil and gas exploitation and telecommunications, said Sang.

Agreeing upon the President’s proposal on the establishment of an inter-governmental committee at an early date, Vice President Astori shared his view that in the short-term, the two countries should implement the Framework Agreement signed in 2007 and forge new deals to boost bilateral economic and trade ties.
Vietnam’s potential in crude oil and gas will open up bilateral cooperation in the field, he said, confirming that his country supports the recognition of Vietnam as a market economy.
While receiving the Uruguayan guest, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said Vietnam and Uruguayan should push up their cooperation in science and technology and in other fields of their strength.
Hung said he hopes that the two legislative bodies will strengthen delegation exchanges and maintain cooperation at multilateral forums.
For his part, Astori pledged to make every effort to continuously promote relations between the two law-making bodies.
The same day, the Hanoi National University on November 6 presented Astori with an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of his contributions to the development of the relations between the two countries.
