Sri Lanka, Vietnam armies boost ties

(VOV) - Vietnam and Sri Lanka should share experience in national reconstruction and defense, the shipbuilding industry, clearance of unexploded ordnance and poverty reduction in underdeveloped areas.

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, and Chief of the Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Daya Rathnayake made the remark in Hanoi on November 20.

The two army leaders reviewed the fine tradition between the two armies, describing it as a foundation for increasing bilateral cooperation in the current situation.

They said the two armies need to strengthen the exchange of delegations and learn more about the strengths of each side.

Sri Lanka is ready to support and provide English language training scholarships for Vietnam People’s Army officers, Rathnayake said.
