President Quang hosts Lao NA Vice Chairman

In his address, President Quang urged the two legislative bodies to properly organize activities to mark the 55th anniversary of Vietnam and Laos diplomatic ties.

The State leader asked the two countries to effectively implement signed agreements including those reached at the 38th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Government Cooperation Committee in December last year. 

He said he hopes the two National Assemblies would work together to facilitate bilateral investment cooperation agreements. 

President Quang also congratulated Laos on its outstanding assumption of the ASEAN Chair 2016, helping raise the country’s global profile.

He asked the Lao National Assembly to make the necessary legal changes to boost bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Somphan Phengkhammy in turn reiterated the Lao NA will double effort to mark the 40 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Amity and Cooperation Treaty and the 55th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations, helping the two countries’ young generations understand more about the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

The Lao legislator told his host that his visit aims to learn from experience in organisation and operation of Vietnamese People’s Councils at the city and provincial levels through practical activities in the central provinces of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.
