PM Phuc meets his Lao and Cambodian counterparts

At his meeting with Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, PM Phuc expressed his delight at the development of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. 

He applauded the official friendship visit made by General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith and the success of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017. 

The two leaders agreed to deepen political ties, boost economic cooperation, focus on key infrastructure projects, and strengthen communication to raise public awareness on the bilateral special solidarity. They pledged to implement a cooperation agreement for 2016 – 2020 and promote preparations for the 40th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-governmental Committee set for early this year. 

They affirmed that they will continue working closely to deepen bilateral political relations and join hands in realizing drastic and comprehensive measures to foster economic partnership.

Meeting with the Cambodian PM, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed Cambodia's hosting of the Second Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Summit as a contribution to elevating Cambodia's role and position in the region.

Phuc praised the tremendous achievements Cambodia have recorded over recent years while expressing confidence that the Royal Government of Cambodia led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen will continue to lead Cambodia on its development path towards peace, stability and prosperity.

With that spirit, PM Phuc wished the Cambodian people's success in  holding Senate elections in February and parliamentary election in July and affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of strengthening and developing the relations "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability" with Cambodia.

The PM expressed their delight at the positive development of bilateral relations in recent times, especially the two countries’ close coordination in organizing the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2017 and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

The two sides agreed to take effective measures to help their people, especially younger generations gain a proper perception of the value of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam and be responsible for preserving and further cultivating this relationship.

In a spirit of friendship, mutual trust and understanding, the two government leaders exchanged views on major orientations and specific measures to augment effective cooperation in trade, transportation, and finance-banking for mutual benefit.

They also concurred to accelerate the progress of border demarcation and marker planting, striving to complete this work in the shortest possible time. They also consented to jointly settle the issue of legal status for Cambodians of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia on the basis of Cambodian law and the spirit of friendly relations between the two countries.
