Peace committee delegation visits Laos
Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathoutu received a delegation from the Vietnam Peace Committee on October 1, led by its Chairman Uong Chu Luu, who is also Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly (NA).
NA Vice Chairman Luu informed the Lao NA leader about the outcome of talks between his delegation and its Lao counterpart, in which both sides agreed upon areas of common concern.
Mr Luu briefed Ms Yathoutu on the Vietnamese NA’s activities regarding legislation, justice and supervision, as well as its role and functions in supervising State management.

She also highlighted the two Peace Committees’ active roles and affirmed their determination to build Laos and Vietnam into prosperous nations.
The visit took place during activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries and 35 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos comprehensive cooperation treaty, and as Laos has been honoured to host the 7th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP7) Meeting and the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM9).
The Lao Party and State bestowed the Friendship Order for peace and development upon the Vietnam Peace Committee to mark the occasion.
