NA Chairman welcomes Thai Senate’s Vice President

(VOV) - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on December 12 received Vice President of the Senate of Thailand, Surachai Liengboonlertchai, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Hung said he believes the visit will contribute to strengthening friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand and open up new prospects for bilateral parliamentary ties and regional and international cooperation.

The top legislator told the Thai guest that during his meetings with Thailand’s Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the Senate, both sides agreed that the two countries’ relationship is growing and flourishing. Raising the relationship to a strategic level will be an important step to further promote bilateral relations for mutual benefits and for the sake of peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Liengboonlertchai said he hopes the friendship and cooperative relations between the two legislative bodies will be more strengthened.

Sharing similarities, the two legislative bodies have many opportunities to increase cooperation and parliamentarian exchanges, thus facilitating cooperation programmes and projects between the two governments in line with the two peoples’ expectations, he noted.

On the same day, a NA delegation led by Deputy Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also held talks with the Thai Senate delegation.

The two sides compared notes on important issues related to bilateral ties between the two nations  and underlined the need to further strengthen the relationship as well as parliamentary delegation exchanges in the near future.

The two NAs are ready to cooperate with each other in supervising the implementation of agreements signed by the two governments, they said.
