Lithuania values ties with Vietnam
VOV.VN - Lithuanian government treasures ties with Vietnam and desires to bolster affiliation in food processing, medical equipment, chemicals, information technology, renewable and green energy.
Prime Minister of Lithuania Saulius Skvernelis made the statement at a meeting with Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh in Vilnius city on October 23, during which he also expressed his nation's wish to intensify cross-cultural exchange, tourism and education-training cooperation with Vietnam
Skvernelis applauded the Vietnamese Vice President’s visit on the occasion of 25 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The Vietnamese leader hailed the remarkable progresses in the friendship, especially in economy-trade-investment and underlined the need to work hand in hand to promote trade promotion and seek opportunities in their respective country's market.
She urged the Lithuanian government to provide all possible support to Vietnamese businesses to help agro-forestry-fisheries, and apparel gain entry to Lithuania and Baltic countries and affirmed Vietnam's willing to open the market and help Lithuania access ASEAN markets.
The two sides concurred to give priority to economic-trade-investment ties in bilateral partnership and expedite the negotiation and signing framework agreements to create a legal framework for stronger collaboration in the future.
They agreed to offer mutual support at multilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the United Nations, the UNESCO and the Asia-Europe Meeting.
At the round-table business conference held on the same day, Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania Albinas Zananavicius highlighted the Thinh's visit as important contributions to advancing economic-trade-investment ties between the two nations, especially at a time when the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement is going to be signed and adopted.
Zananavicius also briefed guests on Lithuania’s competitive strengths in information and food technology, wood processing, saying Lithuanian businesses are keen on doing business in Vietnam and wish to receive legal guidance to set up joint ventures.
On the occasion, Vice President Thinh also met Vietnamese embassy staff in Poland and Lithuania, and Vietnamese expats there.
