Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán concludes Vietnam visit

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on September 26 concluded a successful official visit to Vietnam as guest of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During the visit from September 24 to 26, the Hungarian Government leader held talks with PM Phuc, and had meetings with Party Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. The PM also attended the Vietnam-Hungary business forum and laid a wreath at the Monument of War Heroes and Fallen Soldiers.

During the talks and meetings, the two sides agreed to instruct their ministries and agencies to actively implement outcomes reached at the 7th meeting of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation held in Budapest last March.

Vietnam welcomed the increase of Hungary’s scholarships for Vietnamese students to 200 each year from the next academic year.

The two sides reached consensus in accelerating the signing of an MoU on defence cooperation between their defence ministries.

They applauded the signing of several documents on bilateral cooperation on information and communication technology, culture, agriculture and vocational training during the visit.

The two countries reached agreement to increase consultation and coordination at international and regional organizations and forums, particularly the United Nations, the Asia-Europe Meeting and the Mekong-Danube cooperation mechanism, as well as in addressing global issues.

The two PMs also co-chaired a joint press conference and issued a joint statement on the occasion of the Hungarian PM’s visit.
