Hanoi delegation visits Cambodia

(VOV) - A delegation from Hanoi, led by Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi, paid a working visit to Cambodia on December 12-14.

During their stay, they met with National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin, First Vice President of the Senate Say Chhum, and Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The Cambodian leaders thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their heart-felt support to help Cambodia get rid of the Pol Pot genocidal regime in the past, and boost development process at present.

Hosts and guests expressed pleasure at the two countries' fruitful relations, and pledged to increase multifaceted cooperation for mutual benefit.

Pham Quang Nghi spoke highly of marked achievements recorded by Cambodia over the years, especially in economics, social affairs and culture.

He described the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia as a valuable asset that needs to be maintained and constantly developed by future generations.

The same day, Nghi held talks his Phnom Penh counterpart Kep Chuk Tema to discuss measures for closer cooperation in urban development and management, trade promotion, health care, tourism, and heritage preservation and exploration.

He unveiled Hanoi’s plan to build a US$2 million school as a gift to Phnom Penh.
