Governmet leader hosts Korean, Sri Lankan diplomats

VOV.VN - On July 7 in Hanoi,  Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received  the Ambassadors of the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Sri Lanka to Vietnam.

At a meeting with RoK Ambassador Lee Hyuk, the government leader praised the development of the two countries- strategic partnership in recent years, particularly in security, politics, defense, international cooperation, investment, trade, and ODA.

The free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries will promote bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, investment, and labor. He said he hopes there will be a new wave of Korean investment in Vietnam now that Vietnam has joined the TPP, Phuc told hid guest.

Phuc suggested both nations promote people-to-people diplomacy to tighten bilateral friendship and launch activities for the 25 th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2017. 

Ambassador Huyk for his part said many Korean businesses are keen to invest in Vietnam in a number of areas such as energy, transport, and finance. 

He said he hopes two-way trade will grow more rapidly to reach the US$70 billion target by 2020. 

Meeting with Sri Lankan Ambassador Saranya Hasathi Urgodawatt Dissanayke, PM Phuc said the two countries need to bolster economic cooperation as bilateral trade reached just US$200 million in 2015. 

The Sri Lankan diplomat promised to accelerate the signing of cooperative agreements in trade, investment and tourism with Vietnam and pledged her best effort to further foster the two nations’ relations, especially in trade.
