Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on RoK visit

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh is on a working trip to the Republic of Korea (RoK) from November 18-23 at the invitation of the RoK government.

Meeting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Korea Kim Myung-soo in Seoul on November 20, Binh thanked the RoK for assisting Vietnam in launching the project on improving the capacity of the judicial officials’ schools, affirming that the Vietnamese government encourages the Vietnam People’s Supreme Court and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to build and launch the project on improving transparency and judging quality in Vietnam’s courts. 

Kim hailed the visit which took place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and asked for the Vietnamese government’s continued support to the Supreme Court of Korea and the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam. 

During a working session with Justice Minister Park Sang-ki, Binh thanked the RoK government and RoK Justice Ministry for providing practical support for Vietnamese community in the RoK, especially Vietnamese brides residing in the country. 

He suggested accelerating the third-round negotiations and signing of the judicial assistance agreement in civil affairs and trade as soon as possible. 

The RoK Justice Ministry and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security were asked to work closely together to facilitate immigration and residence of the two countries’ citizens. 

Park vowed to actively partner with the two ministries to ensure legitimate interests of the two peoples, settle obstacles regarding civil status and citizenship, and reduce the rate of illegal residence in each country. 

In a reception for Mayor of Seoul Park Won-soon, Binh praised exchanges between the two countries’ localities, including between Seoul and Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City. 

The guest asked Seoul to continue expanding ties with other potential Vietnamese cities such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, offer assistance to Vietnamese citizens in the city, and help with the construction of the new headquarters of the Vietnamese embassy. 

Park pledged to strengthen exchanges between the two countries’ localities, actively support the Vietnamese community in Seoul and the embassy’s headquarters construction.
