Deputy PM receives UN Under-Secretary General
(VOV) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 4 received UN Under-Secretary General Yury Fedotov who is also Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drug and Crimes (UNODC).
Phuc welcomed Fedotov’s visit at a time when Vietnam celebrates its 35th anniversary of its admission to the UN as its 149th member. He affirmed that the country fully adheres to the UN Conventions on crime and drug prevention, and is exerting every effort to fulfil its commitments.

He suggested that UN agencies further support the Vietnamese government and relevant bodies in successfully implementing the 2012 – 2016 joint plan and other national programmes on this field.
For his part, the UNODC Chief praised the Vietnamese Government’s constant efforts and strong measures to combat crime and drug trafficking as well as the remarkable development of Vietnam-UN relations in the fields of culture, education, economics, trade, security and politics.
